After seeing several great reviews about the Onyx boox -- and some very well targeted advertising -- I pre-ordered the Onyx Boox Palma Pro color based on the great reputation it had so far. It checked a lot of boxes of things I want to see from a good e-ink screen -- very portable, can attach a bluetooth keyboard, a modern android instance.
And happily, I'm typing this post from the palma; relying on vim inside tmux inside termux -- with a lot of my configurations just working.
(And for fun, I also set up Tailscale, my dual-tmux setup and now I find myself happily editing this note from the Palma ssh'd into my linux laptop that also has a tiny GPU in case I want to try writing Cuda.)
It took me some time to figure out the simplest way to set up a reasonable color scheme for termux that would look reasonable on the e-ink screen with somewhat washed out colors.
For now, I have a minimal color scheme to flip the colors and have a light background instead of a dark one.
background=#fff7d5
foreground=#000000
cursor=#ff0000
color3=#333333
The colors are saved in ~/.termux/colors.properties.
